Multi-channel outbound means running coordinated outreach to the same account or contact across more than one channel, typically email and LinkedIn, inside one sequence, instead of running each channel as a separate, disconnected effort.

Where teams end up paying for it twice

Modern sequencers increasingly ship multichannel functionality natively, handling both the email and the LinkedIn side of a cadence from one tool. Running a separate, standalone LinkedIn automation tool in parallel with a sequencer that already covers that ground isn't just redundant spend. It's worse than redundant, because almost nobody checks whether the two tools are stepping on each other's account-risk exposure, over-touching the same contact, until a domain or a LinkedIn profile actually gets flagged.

The channels also carry different risk profiles. An email domain and a LinkedIn seat get flagged by different mechanisms, on different timelines, which is exactly why running both from tools that can't see each other's activity makes the blast radius of a mistake harder to see coming, not easier.

In practice

Before adding a second, channel-specific automation tool, check whether the sequencer already running the program covers that channel. If it does, the question isn't which tool has better features. It's whether two tools touching the same contact from two channels can see what the other one is doing.

What people get wrong

Teams treat channel count as automatically additive, more channels touching an account reads as more coverage. But two tools each unaware of the other's sends on the same contact isn't extra coverage. It's an unmanaged overlap that risks both channels at once instead of protecting either one.
