Firmographic data

Firmographic data is company-level attributes, like headcount, industry, revenue band, and funding stage, used to judge whether an account fits an ideal customer profile before anyone scores its behavior or reaches out.

Firmographic data is a set of company-level attributes, headcount, industry, revenue band, funding stage, used to judge whether an account fits an ideal customer profile at all, before anyone scores its behavior or reaches out. It answers a fit question, not a timing question. It barely moves month to month, unlike behavioral or intent signals, which can shift daily and decay just as fast.

Where it sits ahead of everything else in the stack

In an account-based build, firmographic enrichment runs first, before the contact-level waterfall that finds the actual people on a buying committee. It's table stakes underneath a signal-first account list, not the differentiator: a company can trip every timing signal available and still not be worth pursuing if the firmographic fit isn't there. And in a scoring model, firmographic facts work best as a gate rather than a weighted input. Define the two or three firmographic facts that actually predict a closed-won deal, run them as a yes-or-no check before any point math starts, and an account that fails the gate doesn't get scored on behavior at all, no matter how much activity it racks up afterward.

In practice

Because firmographic fields barely move month to month, they can be enriched once per account and refreshed on a much slower cadence than behavioral or intent data, which needs to stay current to mean anything.

What people get wrong

Teams blend firmographic fit and behavioral intent into a single weighted score instead of keeping them separate, which lets a bad-fit account with a lot of surface activity outscore an actually good-fit account that's been quiet. Running fit as a binary gate, ahead of any behavioral scoring, is what stops that from happening.
