Fireflies

AI meeting assistant that records, transcribes, and summarizes calls, syncing notes and action items into your CRM.

About

What Fireflies actually is.

Fireflies joins your Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams call, records it, and turns the transcript into a summary with action items and speaker breakdown. You can also upload an audio or video file after the fact, or use the Chrome extension and mobile app to capture something outside a normal meeting invite. Once it's done, the notes push out to whatever CRM or project tool you've wired it into, so nobody has to write up call notes by hand.

Search works down to the sentence and timestamp, and AskFred answers questions about what was actually said on a call. Past the note-taking layer, Fireflies adds sentiment and talk-time tracking, plus over 200 prebuilt AI Skills for things like sales or recruiting workflows. Those heavier features run on a separate credit pool, not the storage limit, so a team that automates a lot can burn through credits before it ever hits a minutes cap.

What it does

  • Records and transcribes Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls automatically.
  • Auto-detects and switches languages across 100+ supported languages.
  • Flags who's speaking and tracks talk-time per person.
  • Lets you search a transcript down to the exact sentence.
  • Syncs notes and action items into Salesforce, HubSpot, and similar tools.
  • Ships an API so other systems can pull transcripts automatically.
  • Runs 200+ prebuilt AI Skills for tasks like sales or recruiting notes.

Entry point is free: 400 minutes of team storage, unlimited transcription and summaries, 20 AI credits, no card required. Pro starts at $10/month per seat billed annually ($18 month-to-month) and raises storage to 8,000 minutes per seat, but real usage forces a move to Business once a seat hits that ceiling or the team wants conversation intelligence and team analytics ($19/mo annual, $29 monthly). Enterprise at $39/month is billed annually only, no monthly option, and is the only tier with SSO/SCIM, audit logs, and HIPAA compliance. AI credits (20 to 50 depending on tier) meter AI Skills and Voice Agents separately from minute storage, so a heavy-automation team can hit that limit before the storage cap.

The verdict

Choose it, or skip it.

Choose it if

  • Agencies running client calls across Zoom, Meet, or Teams that need transcripts and summaries synced into a CRM without manual note-taking.
  • Teams that want a real API and webhook layer so an agent can pull a transcript the moment a meeting ends.
  • Sales teams that want conversation intelligence (talk-time, sentiment, topic tracking) without buying a separate call-intelligence suite.
  • Small teams testing the workflow first: the Free tier gives 400 minutes of team storage and API access before any seat cost.

Skip it if

  • Teams already on Aircall or Close, where call recording and AI notes are built into the phone system itself.
  • High call-volume shops that will blow past the 400 free minutes or the 8,000-minute-per-seat Pro cap and need to budget for Business.
  • Anyone needing HIPAA, SSO/SCIM, or audit logs on day one; those sit behind the $39/mo, annual-only Enterprise tier.
Alternatives

If not Fireflies, then what.

  • Fathom logo
    Fathom
Free forever tier (unlimited recordings/transcripts); paid tiers run $19-34 per user/month (Premium $20, Team $19/user, Business $34/user, all discounted annually); Team and Business need a 2-user minimum; Enterprise is contact-sales only.

Pick it for a leaner note-taker focused on Zoom/Meet/Teams recording and CRM sync without the AI Skills add-on layer.

  • Aircall logo
    Aircall
    From $30/license/mo (annual, 3-license minimum ~$90/mo); Professional $50/license/mo; Custom tier is quote-only

Pick it when the calls are phone-based, not video meetings, and AI notes should live inside the dialer itself.

  • Close logo
    Close
14-day free trial, then from $9/user/mo (Solo, annual billing)

Pick it when call recording and notes should live inside the CRM rather than a separate meeting-assistant tool.

FAQ

Asked in real client work.

How does the free tier compare to the paid plans?

Free gives 400 minutes of storage per team, unlimited transcription and summaries, 20 AI credits, and API access. It skips video recording, transcript/recording downloads, and the personal assistant and AI Skills features that Pro and above include.

What actually forces an upgrade from Pro to Business?

Pro caps storage at 8,000 minutes per seat. Business removes that cap entirely and adds conversation intelligence, team analytics, multi-language mode, and user groups, which is why the pricing page marks it 'Most Popular' over Pro.

Does the price change if you pay monthly instead of annually?

Yes. Pro is $18/month billed monthly or $10/month billed annually. Business is $29/month monthly or $19/month annual. Enterprise, at $39/month, is billed annually only with no month-to-month option, so teams weighing it must budget for the full year upfront rather than testing month to month first.

Can an AI agent pull data out of Fireflies automatically?

Yes. Every tier including Free includes API access for audio/video files and integration hooks, and Enterprise adds audit logs with dedicated API access, so an agent can retrieve a transcript or summary right after a call ends.

What compliance certifications does it carry?

SOC 2 Type II and GDPR apply across the product, with zero data retention for AI training. HIPAA compliance, private storage, custom data retention windows, SSO/SCIM, and audit logs are Enterprise-only, per the pricing page.
